Dear Parents,

It is with great pleasure that I am writing to introduce myself to you and to tell you a little about myself.

I live in Pudsey, where my husband and I are very involved in life at St. Joseph’s parish. We have four children, now growing up. Only the two youngest are still at home.

I have been involved in Catholic Education since I qualified as a teacher in 1976 and have had the privilege of teaching in some wonderful, and high-attaining, schools during this time. From the deputy headship of my home parish in Pudsey, I moved to Boston Spa to take up the headship of St. Edward’s Catholic Primary School four years ago. St. Edward’s is a small school, where the community know each other well, and where friendliness and support are freely offered. I have been very happy there.

From the moment that I entered St. Ignatius’ school, I was aware of the same special atmosphere. I enjoyed the opportunity of meeting the staff and children before the Easter holiday and look forward to getting to know you all well. I strongly believe in home, school and parish working together in partnership for the well-being of the children. At St. Ignatius’, the closeness of the church and parish centre to the school, and the support of Father Bernard, give a wonderful opportunity to maintain this partnership.

I hope in my time here to maintain and build upon the high standards that the school achieves while preserving the happy and friendly atmosphere which is so evident in St. Ignatius’.

I will make myself as accessible as I can at all times. Please do feel that you can approach me with any issues. I will do my best to help.

Yours sincerely,

Imelda Lavery (Mrs.)
