Happy New Year

A belated Happy New Year to everyone! The festivities of the Christmas season seem so long ago now. Thank you to everyone for your cooperation and patience during the recent difficult weather conditions.

Bad weather arrangements  - Reminder

If it is snowing one morning and you fear that school may be closed, please listen to Radio Leeds or Ridings FM. We will ensure that the message is put onto both radio stations.  As an additional source of information, Mrs. Brian will put a message on the front screen of the school website on any snowy mornings to confirm whether the school is closed or not. A reminder:- the school website address is

www.st-ignatius.wakefield.sch.uk . (If you are sitting with the website open, waiting for the message to appear, please keep “refreshing,” as it will not appear otherwise.)

Except in the most extreme conditions, it is unlikely that a decision will be made before 8.00, as staff have the obligation to try and come to school, and we need to assess whether their journeys will be possible or not. Please bear in mind that a number of the teaching staff travel longer distances, and may be experiencing severe local conditions, even if journeys within Ossett and Horbury are possible. On health and safety grounds, we cannot open school with insufficient staff.

Even if school is open, you may find that your personal journey is impossible, or unsafe. Please make your own decision based upon the circumstances in which you find yourself.

If your child is at school, and there is snow during the day, please ring school through the day to check whether we are trying to send children home early. Please also ensure that we are holding your most up-to-date contact numbers.

Cinderella - Ossett Town Hall

Tickets that were ordered for the opening night performance of Cinderella tomorrow evening at Ossett Town Hall have been sent out. Anyone still requiring tickets please contact Mrs Shelton or Mrs Wilby.

Parking Issues – reminder

Fr Mark has asked me to draw to your attention the fact that once more we have cars parked near the front of church and the turn at the top of the drive. Cars are also being double parked. Please ensure that your car is not parked in a way that obstructs the flow of traffic. Please park with care and consideration.

School Meals

The cost of school meals has gone up by 10 pence a day to £1.50.For a week the cost is now £7.50. Could we please remind everyone that we need one week’s notice if you would like to change your child’s lunch from school dinners to sandwiches or vice versa. Mrs. Ellis needs to order in the correct amount of fresh ingredients to ensure there is enough for everyone and to avoid wastage.
